It was great to be back out in the wild with the Far'n'Beyond team and Yorkshire Wildlife Trust, with an afternoon of digging, clearing and chopping!
We have been corporate members of the Yorkshire Wildlife Trust since 2012, proudly supporting their fantastic work protecting and developing our local wildlife.
On our latest corporate action day, we visited Ledston Luck near Leeds, a short drive from our new creative studio and warehouse.
A former coal pit, Ledston Luck was developed naturally after its closure in 1986 after serving as part of the linked 'superpit' around Selby for almost 120 years.
Part of the green corridor in the Lower Aire Valley owned by Leeds City Council, the woodland, pond and meadow areas are managed in partnership with the Yorkshire Wildlife Trust.
Our task was to help clear the woodland area of fast-growing trees seeded from the woodland area. This ensures the 17 hectares space isn't overtaken by forest and supports the diverse wildlife in the area, which is particularly important in preserving its seasonal orchid population of over 4000 flowering plants.
The team quickly got involved, with a healthy amount of friendly competition, a desire to use the biggest tools and determination to remove the most challenging trees.
Everyone worked so hard to make a difference to the meadow area, so it can continue to support the wildlife into next year.
Seeing such great teamwork, laughter, and the Far'n'Beyond 'can do' attitude was wonderful.

It was great to see everyone working together to clear as much of the meadow in our session. The reward was a rating of 11/10 from Elisbeth from YWT, who has regularly mentored our team over the years.
At Far'n'Beyond we are always looking for ways to reduce our impact on the environment and contribute to the wider community. We look forward to our next session with Yorkshire Wildlife Trust.
