Unfortunately some of the team at Far’n’Beyond has experience of how upsetting it is for children and their parents when a burn accident happens. So we are incredibly proud to have been able to help the Family Burns Club here in Yorkshire, by donating Christmas cards designed by the children they support.
Family Burns Club, based in Pontefract, West Yorkshire, supports children and young people - from birth to the age of 25 – who have been affected by burn trauma. Launched by Tracey Foster, play specialist at the region's Children's Burns Unit, the charity understands first-hand the physical and mental traumas a burn injury can have on children and their families, from the initial accident to the long-term injuries.
The charity organises events and activities to connect young people who've experienced burns through a safe place focused on fun. Their aim is to help those they support rediscover their confidence, rebuild their self-esteem, and reinforce the message that lifelong scars must never hold them back from their dreams.
As a registered charity, Family Burns Club fundraises as much money as they can to provide the greatest benefit to the families they help.
To support them, we donated printed Christmas cards, which could then be sold to raise funds.
Charity volunteer Sally McLean kindly shared with us how much our support has meant to the charity and the families it helps.
"As a burns survivor myself, I know first hand how isolating and life changing a burn injury can be, not only for a child but their family as well. We offer support through treatments, day trips and weekend camps to all children, young adults and their families, nationwide.
Without generous donations and the work of our volunteers we wouldn't be able to offer the opportunities that help to rebuild fitness, confidence, self esteem and body positivity in our burns survivors."

The cards feature different festive drawings designed by ten children who Family Burns Club supports. On each card, we printed the child's own artwork front and centre, with their name and age proudly displayed on the reverse.
We also printed the charity's logo and strapline - Not all scars can be seen – on every card and included text to make it clear that all money raised from the card sales would go directly to the charity.
At Far'n'Beyond, we do what we can to give back to organisations, supporting local charities where our contribution can really make a difference.
