The team at Far'n'Beyond has recently completed the print and installation of bespoke wallpaper coverings for the newly refurbished Global Radio Broadcast Centre in Leeds City Centre.
Global Radio are proud leaders in commercial radio, their brands are clear and simple – Capital FM, Capital XTRA, Heart, Classic FM, Smooth, LBC, Xfm and Gold – they boast a massive 23.2 million listeners each week from every area and to every demographic.
Far'n'Beyond worked closely with the marketing team and brand directors at Global Radio to deliver a tailor-made bespoke graphics package; focussing on the key elements of branding, large format digitally printed wallpaper and installation.
From the initial site survey we provided accurate measurements and detailed drawings of the three internal reception, canteen and studio walls which were to be branded. These were then passed on to the creative team at Global Radio who worked on the design concepts.
On receipt of the artwork approval we then printed more than 35 square metres of digital wallpaper on our Vutek UV large format digital printer, in fine art quality, using Symbio digital wallpaper - which is slightly textured, fully scuff resistant and fire retardant.
Liaising with our team of committed decorators from design to installation, we then made a site visit to prepare the walls with the relevant primers to ensure these were fully suitable for the next stage of installation.
Each length (piece of artwork) was identified, numbered and arranged in hanging order for installation – bleed allowances had previously been made for splicing. The process involved hanging the first lengths from the right and working towards the left, allowing the printed wallpaper to fall naturally. Laser guiding technology was used the ensure each length was 100% accurate and that all graphics matched up correctly - the joints were then sealed with a seam roller for a perfect finish.
The creative team at Far'n'Beyond is experienced at managing the complete production process from design, pre-press, printing and installation.
The Studio wall proved quite challenging – measuring 6m x 3m with aperture and pillars, this particular wall was the main focal point of the Broadcasting Centre and included the brand logos along with text.
The Studio wall had to be prepared and the graphics installed whilst several shows were live on air, adhering to strict instructions and ensuring no disruption. The final effect is inventive and will no doubt create a strong and positive impression on visitors to the Broadcasting Centre.
