The team at Far’n’Beyond were pleased to work with Sherburn Hungate Primary School on the development of their new entrance and wayfinding outdoor signage, as part of their move to Academy status.
Sherburn Hungate Primary School strives to provide a fun and positive learning environment. Teachers motivate every child to go beyond the preconceived idea of ‘potential’, by providing all pupils with a creative, inclusive and challenging real-world curriculum.
External Academy Printed Signs
Converting to an Academy and joining The Sherburn, Tadcaster and Rural Multi Academy Trust (STARMAT), Sherburn Hungate Primary School required new signage to replace the old boards which were out of date and due to the change, had incorrect information being displayed.
The team at Far’n’Beyond were pleased to work with the local school on this project, which incorporated a site visit, survey and full production.
The first part of the brief involved recreating the existing logo, so that it could be printed at a large size.
In addition to the main way-finding and entrance signage, we also produced reverse graphics on the signs with the objective to engage and inspire students and parents. Each of the signs displays a different phrase and reverse, to help stimulate conversation whilst leaving the school gates.
Once the text for the signs had been decided, the creative team at Far’n’Beyond began to look at the design of the signage, producing a couple of alternative proofs for discussion and development with the Headteacher.
Proofing is an important part of the design process; we provided accurate mockups that clearly communicated how the finished product would appear.
When creating the designs, we took into consideration the purpose of the signs, what they are communicating and the target audience, whilst also ensuring we used the correct branding, colours and logos.
Quality Sign Printing
With the proof designs approved, we then moved to production. Each of the signs were printed on a specialist anti-graffiti, anti-scuff laminate which was applied to a rigid 4mm Dibond Material with rails for attaching onto the existing posts.
The combination of inks and materials ensure that the colours won’t fade in sunlight for approximately 25 years, whilst the lightweight but strong aluminium/rubber composite will withstand the most challenging of climates, without rust.
“The School is really pleased with the signage. The design and print are excellent and have received many complimentary comments from our teachers and parents. Having the phrases as students leave school is another great addition.”
