We were delighted to be working directly with the BBC on another project, following on from several successful design and print briefs.
The creative team were approached by local radio station BBC Lincolnshire to develop a design and brand identity for a broadcasting talent competition.
‘Be the One’ is a county-wide search for new talent, where the winner will be given a brand new weekly radio show on the station.
Looking to find someone who is passionate about the Lincolnshire area and enjoys sharing stories and opinions, whilst generating on-air relationships with callers, is at the centre of the campaign. Another key factor that required highlighting, was that experience is not needed – just a passion for being on the radio!
From a basic brief, our designers looked at the various aspects of the competition and how we could translate the concept across digital and printed marketing activity.
Creative Logo Design
Key to our interpretation was the amplification of the spoken word to a new audience through a visual icon alongside a clear written message for prospective entrants.
The final logo design incorporated the key elements of the competition and was produced for primary use across social media channels, which was reflected with the focus on the ‘one sound’ icon mark.
Capturing the logo element is the speech bubble, which is isolated to reveal the number one.
The speech bubble itself reflects the conversational values of local radio and the importance of engaging dialogue. This also holds the five audio bars, which further communicate the broadcasting aspect of the competition and BBC Radio Lincolnshire.
The sixth audio bar appears outside the speech bubble to present the ‘be the one’ title. Being outside the ‘traditional’ speech bubble, it highlights the different approach to broadcasting that the campaign aims to uncover from local applicants.
